On Saturday, December 28, 2002, OSS Chairman, Dr. Azman Firdaus Shafii presented a paper "Bioinformatik: Bidang Baru Dalam Bioteknologi" at the Invitation of Residence College Section 17, Universiti Malaya. Nearly 200 participants attended the seminar.

Starting from December 1, 2001, Open Source Systems Sdn. Bhd., Intelligent Urban Systems Sdn. Bhd. , City Management Solutions Sdn. Bhd. , and Tekun Ventures Sdn Bhd are relocating to a Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC)-designated Cybercity: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) Technology Centre One.

Informix announces the appointment of OSS as the sole distributor for its solutions on the Linux platform.

Dr. Azman Firdaus Shafii, Chairman of OSS, was invited to participate in a hectic but fruitful study mission to UK recently. The delegation comprised senior scientist from the BioValley interim labs (now located at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia and MARDI), Dr. Sharr Azni of the National Biotechnology Directorate, Ministry of Science Technology and the Environment, and was headed by Prof. Dr. Nor Muhammad Mahadi from the BioValley UKM Genomics Lab, Bangi.

The first talk, "Introduction to Open Source", was delivered by Mr. Farul Mohd Ghazali, OSS Manager, Systems & Bioinformatics of the company. Yeow Debbie, OSS' Linux Software Engineer delivered the second talk on SAIR Linux GNU certification.

The one-hour talk was truly an eye opener to the UTAR staff and students. The presentation was quite successful as there were a lot of responses and enquiries from the students particularly on the SAIR Linux GNU Certification Talk.

The presentation were officiated by Dr. Tan Chik Heok, Dean of Faculty of Information & Communication Technology and participated by more than 30 students.
