Open Source Systems Sdn Bhd (OSS) was given the honor to provide Introduction to Linux Training to SUK Perak on September 14-15, 2004.

This is a customized training on Introduction to Linux Desktop to a group of 20 people, comprising programmers, system analysts and project managers from Perak.

The overall response was good and some of the participants requested for on-site trainings and installations for their respective departments. Microsoft had just successfully organized its yearly conference/seminar for its many developers, Tech-Ed 2004. The week-long event (September 13-17, 2004) was held at the very poshy Palace of Golden Horses. Special tents were erected by the lakeside for the exhibition while conferences and tracks took place at the various seminar rooms in the hotel. Open Source Systems Sdn. Bhd. (OSS) once again were there to help Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to promote their very powerful 64-bit processors, namely the Opteron and the Athlon64 processors.

The Biotechnology Asia 2004, an International Biotechnology Conference & Exhibition was held from September 9-11, 2004 at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The official opening was by YB Tan Sri Dato' Hj. Muhjiddin Hj. Mohd Yassin, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry in the Grand Ballroom, Pan Pacific Hotel.

Novell, one of the world biggest solution provider in computing technology, once again has organized a convention, together with an exhibition to promote Linux and their Malaysians partner's products and services. Held at the Sunway Convention Centre on September 7, 2004 from 8.30am to 5.30pm, most of the attendees were IT managers, professionals and decision makers from various government and private organization.

Open Source Systems Sdn Bhd (OSS) has just been apppointed by the Malaysian Administration Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) as one of the Open Source Software training providers who will be providing support, training and research & development services. MAMPU, a unit of the Prime Minister Department is given the responsibility to implement this Open Source Software Initiative to encourage its use in the Malaysian Public Sector. This infrastructure is leveraged through the Open Source Competency Centre (OSCC) which acts as a single point of reference in the implementation of Open Source Software. Interested public sector agencies can contact MAMPU's OSCC or the respective training providers.
