After changing it's name to reflect its new focus, The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation is able to hold its first major event, the National Innovation Summit at the Palace of Golden Horses from April 29, 2004 to May 1, 2004.

For the showcase, Open Source Systems (OSS) had its booth strategically located near one of the entrances of the venue. This time around, together with our various technology partners, we were able to bring a cluster of seven machines to demonstrate our products and services.

Open Source Systems Sdn Bhd (OSS) was invited by Universiti Putra Malaysia to give a talk for the official launching of their UPM Linux Club, on February 12, 2004. OSS was represented by our Linux System Engineer, Encik Mohammad Bahathir Hashim and Software Development Engineer, Mr Lim Beng Chuan. Prof. Madya Dr. Mohamed Othman, Head of the Faculty of Communication Technology and Networking, and Raja Azlina Raja Mahmood, a UPM Lecturer also attended the launching.

Open Source Systems Sdn Bhd (OSS) conducts the Linux System Administrator course under the Graduate Retraining Scheme II (GRS II) under the umbrella of Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad funded by the Ministry of Human Resource. The 3 months hands-on classroom training commenced on January 26, 2004 at OSS’ training centre in UPM-MTDC Technology Center One, Serdang, Selangor.

Universiti Industri Selangor awards the project to design, supply, deliver, installation, testing, training and commissioning of “UNISEL Bio-IT Selangor Portal”, a biotech related business search engine and database system, to Open Source Systems Sdn Bhd.

Our Senior Systems Engineer, Encik Bahathir recently completed his certification under the SAIR program and is now a Linux Certified Professional.

This brings the number of Certified Linux Engineer to five within Open Source Systems Sdn Bhd.
